Push notifications are messages an app receives from a server through the phone’s operating system. In security systems they carry motion, door or alarm events to staff phones. Delivery depends on the phone’s data connection, battery settings and the vendor’s service.
Push is fast and free, and it is not a monitored alarm. Nothing confirms that a human saw the alert.
Why delivery is not guaranteed
Battery optimization, do-not-disturb modes, lost signal and expired app sessions all suppress pushes. Treat them as a convenience layer and keep a second path, such as email, text message or a monitored connection.
Avoiding alert fatigue
A phone that buzzes all night gets silenced. Tune rules by zone, schedule and object type, and test after every change so staff trust the alerts that do arrive.
