A security system audit is a structured review of what is installed, how it is configured and whether it still matches the site. It covers device health, coverage gaps, user permissions, firmware, logging and backups, and it ends with a prioritized list of corrections.
Systems drift between installations. A camera was moved for a renovation, an account was never removed and a recorder has not been patched since commissioning, and nobody wrote any of it down.
What gets examined
Coverage against the original plan, retention actually achieved, access permissions, firmware versions, backup power and alarm paths. Comparing configuration with documentation shows how far the system has drifted.
Turning findings into a plan
Group findings into safety and compliance issues, then security gaps, then improvements. A list without owners and dates becomes the same document again next year. Fixing the urgent items first protects the evidence everything else depends on.
