Security system maintenance is scheduled work that keeps a system working: cleaning domes, checking recordings and retention, testing batteries and alarm paths, applying firmware updates and confirming that every camera still streams. It turns unnoticed failures into corrected ones before an incident exposes them.
Cameras do not usually fail dramatically. A dome clouds over months, a drive drops out of a RAID set and a battery stops holding charge, and nothing announces any of it.
The checks worth doing
Confirm recorded footage exists for every channel at the expected retention, test batteries and alarm paths, clean lenses and housings, and review user accounts. A camera that is online but recording nothing passes a simple ping test.
Records and intervals
Log what was tested, what was replaced and what remains outstanding. A quarterly review suits many commercial sites, with additional seasonal checks on outdoor hardware.
