A multi-sensor camera combines several imagers in one body to produce a very wide or panoramic view, often stitched into a single stream. It replaces several narrow cameras with one device and one network address, at the cost of higher bandwidth and seams where images meet.
The format suits a wide frontage or an intersection where you want one continuous picture rather than four separate ones. Detail per degree of view falls as sensors spread.
Stitched or separate streams
Some units output one panorama; others output each sensor separately and let the recorder or VMS arrange them. Separate streams usually preserve more detail.
Practical limits to plan for
Check the total resolution across the whole view, the power budget, and whether the firmware supports the analytics you want on each sensor.
