ONVIF is an open standard for interoperability between IP cameras, recorders and management software. A conformant device implements a defined profile, so another vendor’s software can discover it, request a stream and control it. The logo indicates tested compatibility, not identical features.
Compliance sounds like a guarantee. In practice it means the basics will work, and the profile letters tell you which basics.
Profiles, not just logos
Profiles define scope: streaming, recording and control, metadata, or access control. A camera may meet one profile and not another, so match the profile to what the recorder must do, not the badge alone.
Test the integration
Two conformant products can still disagree on stream settings, analytics metadata or time sync. Test discovery, live view, playback and export on the actual combination before a rollout, not on a datasheet.
